1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible

Fans of the Chevelle SS would tell you this car sits on top of the food chain of muscle cars.  We say make it a convertible and this car doesn't disappoint!

Description

572ci GM crate engine, 620 horsepower

5 Speed manual transmission

Air conditioning, power steering, disc brakes

Rotisserie restored, 600 miles since built

This very nicely restored car started life as a rust free and documented Texas Malibu.  After complete disassembly the body was stripped to bare metal before its beautiful Fathom Blue paint was applied.  The only replacement sheetmetal on the car is the SS hood-from the windshield frame to the floors this car needed no steel repairs.  The bumpers are new, as are all of the chrome and stainless pieces. A proper SS grille was installed along with four brand new T-3 headlamps. Painted white SS stripes are buried under layers of clearcoat.  The new and perfect white top is a great accent to the dark blue paint.  15x7 front and 15x8 rear wheels hold 235/60 and 255/60 BFGoodrich tires, respectively.  Hood pins, chromed dual exhaust tips and more add appeal to an already stunning car.

Inside you're greeted with all new upholstery.  The original was tossed again in favor of crisp white, and it's a great choice not just for a Chevelle but for a convertible.  There's a sport wheel attached to a tilt column in front of brand new SS gauges with a tachometer.  The factory A/C controls now operate a Vintage Air unit that blows nice and cold.  In your right hand is the shifter for the Tremec TKO600 transmission-muscle cars are always nicer with overdrive.  A new Custom Autosound stereo is in the dash along with new speakers.  It cruises comfortably, which is what a convertible is all about.

Under the hood is a monster 572 cubic inch Chevrolet Performance Parts crate engine-by displacement it's the largest motor offered by the big three.  It makes 620 horsepower and over 650 lbs-ft of torque, and it revs to a modest 6000RPM-the power is accessible anywhere at any time.  The cam sets a beat that can't be missed for miles, and even with free breathing headers and 3" pipes the engine seems to scream through its exhaust rather than simply exhale. Topping the heads is a fully tuneable Accel DFI port fuel injection system rather than a typical four barrel carb-it's definitely a conversation piece.  A Billet Specialties V-Trac accessory drive system sits up front while a step back allows a wider view of the smooth satin inner fenders, an aluminum radiator, an Optima red top, a brand new brake booster and master cylinder and more.  It's an impressive home for the massive engine.

The chassis received as much attention as the top side.  The front suspension was fully rebuilt with urethane bushings, all new steering components, fresh disc brakes and an oversized sway bar.  Out back things are a bit more serious with a freshly built 12 bolt, Metco billet control arms (the uppers are adjustable) and lower control arm forward mount braces.  Disc brakes are back here as well, and they're well balanced with the fronts for effective stopping.  A new fuel tank, lines, brake lines and more are in place. And with mileage believed to be only 681, that makes this car a great buy!

Give us a call if this sounds like your kind of combination.

At the Motor Car Group, we're enthusiasts first. We want you to enjoy your new car from the minute it's delivered and the trailer door drops. Before a car leaves our shop, it's gone through comprehensively, both visually and mechanically. We do more than just kick the tires, though: We fill your tires with nitrogen, road test (if the weather permits us here in Cleveland!) and clean it inside and out. We buff the paint using a three-step process immediately before it's taken away so that it gleams when it arrives. Every car we sell, from Sunday drivers through the rarest exotics, is meant to be driven-get out there!

If you have any questions before, during or after the sale, do not hesitate to contact us. It's what we're here for! Call us at (440) 914-0000, write us at sales@motorcargroup.com or stop by and see the new shop at 6441 Davis Industrial Parkway, Solon OH 44139. We're 26 miles from Cleveland Hopkins Airport and we can pick you up when you come to inspect or purchase your car. We welcome any prospective buyers, their buyer's agents or inspectors from Monday through Friday during business hours, as well as evenings and weekends by appointment. We're car people who love what we do, and you'll feel it from the first time you contact us. Give the R&H crew the opportunity to serve you: Our passion and attention to detail set us apart.
